Forskningsgruppen blev etableret i 2012 og bedriver translationel forskning i autoimmune inflammatoriske sygdomme i det centrale nervesystem (CNS). Gruppens primære fokus er multipel sklerose (MS), neuromyelitis optica spectrum sygdom (NMOSD) og MOG-antistof associerede sygdomme (MOGAD), men de forsker også i andre sjældne CNS-sygdomme. Teamets formål er at udforske sygdomsmekanismer, opdage nye biomarkører, identificere potentielle mål for behandling, forbedre sygdomsdiagnostik og optimere behandling for den enkelte patient. Gruppens ekspertise dækker over adskillige niveauer af forskning: genetisk modificerede dyremodeller, in vitro vævs- og cellemodeller, multi-omics inkl. vævs- og enkelkerne sekventeringsmetoder, epigenetiske studier, biomarkør-studier, og kliniske database/epidemiologiske studier. Siden 2012 har medlemmer af gruppen publiceret 120 artikler (61 fra gruppen) og været hovedvejleder for 7 Ph.d.-studerende i Denmark; 4 af dem har modtaget danske og/eller internationale forskningspriser eller -anerkendelser. Gruppen har organiseret 3 symposier med internationale foredragsholdere.

The team was established in 2012 and conducts translational research in autoimmune inflammatory diseases of the CNS. The primary focus is multiple sclerosis (MS), neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), and MOG-antibody associated disorder (MOGAD), but studies have been done in other rare CNS disorders. The team aims to explore mechanism of diseases, discover novel biomarkers, identify potential treatment targets, improve disease diagnosis, and optimize treatment outcomes. The expertise covers all levels of research: genetically modified animal models, in vitro tissue/cell models, multi-omics including tissue- and single nucleus sequencing methods, epigenetic studies, biomarker studies, and clinical database/epidemiological studies. Since 2012, members of the team have published 120 articles (61 from the team) and have been training 7 PhD students in main supervision in Denmark; 4 of them received Danish or international research awards/recognition. The team organized 3 symposia with international speakers.
