The primary focus of the research group is idiopathic intracranial hypertension mainly affecting young obese women of childbearing age. As the  origin of the disease is unknown it is called idiopathic. Patients are suffering from increased intracranial pressure which may affect the optic nerves and thus in the worst case result in blindness.

Based on the evaluation of the data (and biobank) of 250 patients included at the Danish Headache Center, Rigshospitalet, Glostrup and the OUH, the research group is trying to improve the diagnostic criteria and to characterize new clinical and molecular markers with diagnostic, prognostic and predicitve impact. The work comprises evaluation of the clinical data, proteomics, metabolomics as well as other blod and CSF analysis (f.eks. evaluation of neurofilament)
